basic - film language <→ computer language
that language (eg lisp ) evaluates to a film sequence
more interested in this approach .. rather than "do this" programming (is difference functional and imperative (procedural) )
Functional programming is a style of programming that emphasizes the evaluation of expressions, rather than execution of commands. The expressions in these language are formed by using functions to combine basic values. A functional language is a language that supports and encourages programming in a functional style.
see Paul Graham On Lisp..
other main idea is of environment - system in which operator (who builds state and language) can save image of complete environment - snapshot (see squeak) / also question vm and interpreter and how such a system could be distributed
perhaps head towards streams/language being more fragmented at one extreme (as envisioned in new nodal gdapp system)
question when comes down to extend/embed … that should not expose underlying structures to layered language – these should be abstracted as ????
(but should be able to descend transparently through leakage/layers
→ MAIN QUESTION now (to resolve) is what that underlying data/structure is – via compression models.
question of a parallel model given linearity / stream → smaller parallel cell? chunks
promiscuous chunks as opposed to streams - chunks search out (notion of ) scene?s - language at all levels.
*further ideas:: Sunday Aug 24+*
1) compression schema presents underlying fm01 data -statistical
-compression chunks -language-based agents co-operate -language evaluating (to), instantiating and interrogating distributed agents - agents suggest themselves to the language -distributed compression(?) - break the frame
2) agents contain the underlying fm01 data -or- insert themselves into this data (stream)
3) for jk: that pixel-level is not irrelevant - that should be able somehow to loopback through abstraction levels to this data-level of operation
> (+ co-incidence with image analysis functions through this loopback - see [[model algorithms]])
*++++++++++++++++++*
a system of description for both gdapp and fm01 such that this could become the environment/application
and that the description here could be used
gdapp->apOS?

given notion (graham - lisp ) that build language towards application - what do we want to do with language - what should foundations be that deal with material as language, script and visual
